The Suvannamaccha “golden mermaid” of Cambodian folklore supposedly tried to foil bridge-building plans, by stealing the rocks. Instead she fell hopelessly in love with a human. Maybe this vintage brass ashtray is a peace offering to collect the sacred ashes of human cigarettes?
